Going back to school projects

Ok so I’ve finished a few going back to school projects for a friend of mine. They are super fun and easy to do. I made a pencil case, a little  pleated wristlet, in which I used a pattern from my “Bags” pattern book, and a school planner. I downloaded the planner pages template from it’s really a great template. Unfortunately, I do not have a very good graphic design program on my computer, not to mention, I work better with my hands, NOT a computer lol. So this was an amazing help for my project.

However, on the planner, I think I’m going to be getting some Spring opening O rings instead of the wire I used. The wire just doesn’t seem to be cutting it, plus, the o rings will hold the book together better, and she can add pages if she needs to!

These projects were so fun!!! I was able to use some of my scrap fabrics I’ve saved over the years to make them! HAHA now I definitely know why I never get rid of my scraps. 😉 Especially for the little wristlet, I’ve had the fabric for that for two years. And I have so many zippers, I’m always finding those in sale bins all over the place. I think I have like twenty zippers that I’m just waiting to use.

Ok, enough of my babbling, today is Wednesday, “Hump Day” which means the week is almost over. I can’t believe it, this week has flown by…sigh where does the time go!

Thanks for reading and I’ll talk again soon!!

Teacher Tote bag

Good Afternoon! So today has been a very productive and tiring day. First, I spent the morning doing yard work, and pushing around a lawnmower. talk about some MAJOR workout, haha that’s a good thing..I guess. Then I filled an order I got for a teacher, so I had to put my other projects on hold for a little. She asked me to make a cute little 12×50 inch cushion for a window seat in her classroom. Then, with coordinating fabric, I made a matching tote bag, complete with a laptop pocket. It’s super cute, the striped material on the top of the tote is the same fabric the cushion is made of. Sorry I don’t have picture to show of the cushion, your just going to have to use your imagination on that. It’s 12×50 inches long, about 1 1/2 inches thick, and made completely with the striped outdoor canvas material. This way if any little second graders spill anything on it, it really won’t matter! 😉

The Tote is made of double sided quilted material and the outdoor canvas…very durable! It has five pockets; one on the outside, while the inside has a double pocket on one side, a smaller pocket on the other, and a laptop pocket on the same side as the smaller pocket. Lol wow try saying that 5 times in a row! Hopefully the pictures will help you understand what I’m trying to explain.

Hope your having an awesome Friday, time to go cuddle and watch a movie with my little one. 🙂 Always a blessing to relax with her, she makes me very happy!

New Summer Dresses for Bella

Over the past few days I’ve been sewing like crazy, I decided to make Bella some spring/summer dresses! They came out so good, in all honesty, I’ve had a few people ask me where I bought them. In which I replied with, of corse, I made them! Haha Bella is a great little model too! Such a proud momma I am, although, my little girl dresses better than me! 😉 What makes it even better, is that Bella gets super excited when I make her a new dress. She puts it on and twirls around in a big circle saying, “look mommy, look so pretty!” Hee hee so adorable!

This is a tunic dress pattern I used from the book, “One Yard Wonders” there’s a link there to it on Amazon!

I ended up having to shorten the elastic in the band in the back. Bella is so thin, that the length of the elastic the pattern calls for, well I had to cut it almost in half. Thankfully, it didn’t end up looking like a bunched up mess. IMG_0360

This one is my favorite, aside from her incredibly, adorable, cheesy grin, I actually made this one without a pattern. It took some time getting the measurements right and all that, but in the end it was well worth it! It’s just your classic little girl dress, or that’s what I call it. Also, not sure if you recognize the fabric, but I used this in a wallet and purse I made. Here is a blog link to see the wallet, I guess I never took a photo of the purse, so I posted a photo of it at the end of this blog…“My First Vinyl Women’s Wallet”.

I know it’s grainy, but I put a loop and button closure on the top of it. This is the first time I’ve ever incorporated this in a dress. Makes it easy to pull on and off with out killing  your self haha ;).

Here is the purse I made, it’s actually a clutch sized messenger bag. I thought I blogged about it in the past but I must not have, hmm if you find it let me know!

Well that’s it for today, thanks for reading.

Disney/Pixar Cars Kid’s Duffle Bag

Good Morning, I’m so excited today! I just finished a custom order for a boys duffle bag. WOW, I was so caught off guard when I got this order, was not expecting it, and such a blessing! So anyway, they just don’t make Disney/Pixar Cars, double sided quilted fabric, so I had to quilt it myself. Well…sort of, I didn’t want to take the “awesomeness” of the print away, so I just basted the ends together before sewing up the bag. And I used a super thick fusible fleece instead of batting. This actually gave the bag more stability, and stayed in place while I was sewing it all together. 🙂

Overall, I think the bag came out great!! I gotta say, for my first “boy” item I’ve ever made, it looks just too stinking cute!

Well, hope you enjoy your day and the pics, I’ll blog again real soon!

Child sized duffle bag…

Good Afternoon, today is such a beautiful day! The sun is shinning, the weather is perfect, and I’m in a good mood 😉 haha. So today I made another duffle bag, except this one is a bit smaller. Since my daughter is potty trained now, WOHOO, I don’t need to lug around my diaper bag all the time. Ok, so that’s not entirely true, I still carry it in the car with extra clothes, panties, etc. just in case ;). So yea, getting back on track, I made this one for her, it’s dimensions are: 18′ long x 8 1/2 ” wide/tall, were as the other bag is:  22″ long x 11″ wide/tall. It’s not that much of a difference, but it’s more “kid” sized lol.

Oh, just a little FYI, I did actually make this bag up on my own. Of corse, there are a million and one bags out there, in which I have gotten a lot of inspiration from. But, I did make come up with the pattern, dimensions, etc. for these. I was thinking about doing a tutorial on them, it’s pretty simple, what do you think? Would that be of interest for any of you or no?

Anyway, enough of my blabbing, thanks for reading, and hope you have a marvelous day!

Quilted Duffel Bag

Hello everyone, hope your having a wonderful day. Today, I made a my first ever, quilted duffel bag. It even has a zipper lol 😉 in which I’m usually not a big fan of those. Anyway, it’s the perfect size to shove under your seat on an airplane. In which, I’m sure you figured out by now, is exactly why I made it. Next month I will be traveling to visit my family in Florida, WOHOO! Unfortunately, now a days, on most airlines, you have to pay to bring an over head carry-on. UGH what a pain, so I made a duffel bag that is big enough to stick under my seat. Plus, it’s so much cuter than most duffel bags I’ve found in the stores!! Hee Hee gotta travel in style don’t cha know. 😉

Hmm, well that about wraps this up, I most likely will be making another one soon for Bella, this way we both can have a pretty good sized bag that won’t cost me EXTRA lol.

Thanks for reading, talk to you all again soon,

P.S. Again I’m a bad photographer, the bag looks all lumpy lol I guess I didn’t stuff it that well haha, and everything on it is even!

A Tote Bag for Mommy

Ok so, as you know already, I make tote bags, I’ve blogged about them in previous posts. Well, I’m always either making them for my shop and/or for gifts. However, I’m flying to Florida Sunday, which you also know, and I just never seem to have a big enough carry-on bag to fit all my junk in. SOooo, I finally made one for myself! It’s so pretty and big enough for my portable dvd player, and cd case full of dvd’s for Bella, a small purse, and then some. So now I am officially ready to start packing…Ugh…that part can be so tedious.

Oh well, off to start packing and cleaning some more, talk to you all again soon!

The bag is straight and so is the pocket, it’s crazy windy today, not the best for taking pictures!
