Busy Book for Christmas‚Ķ.

Hi there, so I wanted to share with you the busy Busy Book I just finished for my best friend Cynthia’s daughter. She called me a while ago and asked me to make one for her daughter for Christmas. Well, I know I’m early, but you know me, once I start a project I have to finish it. ūüôā SO, here are some pics of it. My daughter Bella was by my side, “testing the product” as I was finishing each page lol. She of corse asked me to make her another busy book with some of the features in this one, especially the potatoe¬†head page.

So for those of you who have seen my previous blog posts, about a year ago I made one for Bella. Here’s a link to the post. “Cloth Busy Book”. Well, I’m sure you can see I made this one a little different. Honestly, this one is made way better!! Instead of hot glueing everything together, except the pages, I’ve sewn all the pieces/pages. It’s so much more sturdy and will hold up longer. At first I wasn’t really looking forward to changing thread colors, but then I remembered I had clear thread, so I just used that for the entire book! It actually was a lot easier to sew everything then to hot glue it. Saved me time and the pain of burning my fingers on tiny pieces of felt. ūüėČ

All in all, I had a blast making it, and I’m pretty sure I will be making more. Well, I know I have to make one for Bella at least. I’m thinking I’m going add a noah’s ark page, and Jonah and the whale, maybe a brush your teeth page. I don’t know, I’ll figure it out, however, I do know that I will definitely¬†be making one in the same manner as I made this one. NOT the kind I made for Bella originally, sheesh that one was a pain in the neck!

Well, that’s it for today, thanks for reading, hope you have a wonderful Saturday!!

Quilt as you go Place Mat!

Hello again! So this time I have attempted to quilt. :/ Now those of you who have been following my blog, know how much I despise quilting! It’s incredibly tedious work, and takes F O R E V E R lol. Well, a girl friend of mine came over today to sew and let the kids have a play date, always fun times. Anyway, she introduced me to this “quilt as you go” method of quilting. Which is a¬†quilting/piecing process which incorporates sewing together a block and quilting it at the same time. This¬†looked interesting and pretty simple, so I tried it. OH MY WORD I’m so glad I did! This method is amazing, it’s so simple and definitely not super tedious work. I loved it so much, that I’m actually going to finish making the three other place mats for my table. Ha…who would have thought I’d actually come to enjoy quilting.

So yes, I am officially going to start quilting now, well not big stuff, I think I stick to little stuff for a while. Nevertheless, I’m excited to dig into this. Hope your having a wonderful weekend. Talk to you all again very soon!

P.S. please forgive my horrible photography, these pictures do NOT give any justice what so ever.

Christmas making continued…

Another gift done….‚úď! Again not telling you who it’s for hee hee, at least you get to see it though. It’s another draw string backpack for a…relative. ūüôā This one was a little bit more tricky. Instead of just sewing button holes, on the bottom corners, for ribbon to be tied to, I incorporated the straps into the side seems. Was a bit of a challenge to figure out, but I got it. Hope you like it!!

Just a reminder, I’m still having a 15% off purchase going on in my shop.

Christmas “Making”

Good afternoon, I hope your tuesday is going great. So I may be taking a little break from sewing items for my shop…maybe. I am making most of my Christmas presents this year. It’s so exciting, I wish I would have done this last year, it would have made Christmas so much more sentimental. Anyway, I’ve gotten started on a few items. First things first, I made a cute little draw string backpack for well…someone in my family. Hee hee not telling who, just in case. ūüôā I hope you like it, it turned out just great..I think I may make a few more of these. They can be good for boys too, just with the right fabric.

Well, back to the “sewing” board, so to speak, I know cheesy humor lol.

Hello dear friends, yesterday was an overwhelming, yet exciting day. My grandma called me out of the blue and asked me to come pick her up in michigan!! WOohoo…I’m so excited, not to mention we get to visit with all my family up there for a few days too. I haven’t seen them all in over a year, and my sister, well, lets just say I have been wanting to visit for a while now. SO aside from making preparations for the trip, I figured, why not get together some christmas presents and bring them up. Since I won’t be able to see them for Christmas. Lol it will be Christmas in September, on labor day weekend lol:). SO I have some more sewing to do. NO I will not be telling you what it is I’m making at this point, for fear they may be reading this blog. Sorry guys!!! I will post lots of pics after they open them tho, promise! So that concludes my update for today, gonna go organize my house now.

This is a photo of me and my Grandma at my wedding reception. Sorry honestly, this is the only photo I really have of her. That’s all gonna change when we see her though! Watch out grandma you will be in every photo I take, if I can help it!
