Peacock Quilt-as-you-go quilt set is finally done!!!

Yay it’s finished!!!!! I finally finished my queen sized quilt-as-you-go quilt for my bed!! I love it, I even made some matching pillows. I still have to make one more pillow case, I ran out of fabric for it. But I just haven’t been able to get to the fabric store, and I’ve been dying to share this with you. It took a while but it was well worth it. I hope you can see the colors and details of the fabrics good in the photos. It has a lot of shimmery gold accents in it.

As you can see by my headline, I used the infamous quilt-as-you-go method. It was so simple to do, just was a lot a fabric 😉 ok so I hope I don’t sound conceited, but this is the best quilt I’ve ever made. Every line is straight and when it’s folded, the corners all match up perfectly…I’m so proud of it EEK!

Ok enough of me raving about it, here are the pics, hopefully it lives up to my gloating. There is one photo my quilt being held up, well it’s pretty heavy, so it doesn’t make the stripes look like they are perfectly parallel to one another. I can assure you they are though. I really tried my absolute best to make them perfect. Ugh, I’m really not a perfectionist at all. But when it comes to my work, aka anything crafty or dealing with sewing, I am lol. Oh well, the end result is stunning, hope you like it just as much as I do!

Thanks for reading

Finished Quilt!!

So I have done it, I finished my quilt for my bed! It turned out so pretty, although, I didn’t take a picture of the back, honestly I just used an ivory colored sheet that matched, lol. It made it so much easier than buying more fabric and having to piece it together. I ended up using the tie method with embroidery floss, to quilt it together. I definitely over achieved when it came to quilting the front of this thing. It’s incredibly large, and I just don’t have a table long enough to keep the quilt straight enough to quilt it properly.  It’s alright, I made a pillow shame, which I need to make another one still, with the free motion quilting that I wanted to do in the center of my quilt. Oh well, it still looks nice, well I think so anyways.

Now I can finally check my quilt of my “to sew” list. Haha, which means I just need to make one more pillow sham, matching curtains, and table runners for my two dressers in my room, and then my room will be complete! Haha not so sure I’ll be able to knock all that out in a short amount of time though. After all, fabric cost money, and well, money just doesn’t grow on trees so, unfortunately, so I have to be a little patient. 😉

On a side note, I do have a few other projects to do while I’m waiting. I still have to make some throw pillows for my couches, to match my curtains, and the “other” throw pillow for my bed. Now those I do have the fabric for!! Hee hee well, my little one is having quiet time right now, which means I have time to sew! So I’m gonna scoot to the sewing machine and get to work before “quiet time” is over!

Thanks for reading, as always, I’ll talk again soon. Hope your having a wonderful Thursday!

P.S. The third photo is of the free motion quilting I did on the pillow sham!

Hexagon Free Motion Quilted Pillow

So I have embarked on another knew adventure. While in the process of making the quilt for my bed, I took a little break. All that fabric for that quilt, whew, gets a bit overwhelming at times lol. Anyway, I made a hexagon quilted pillow case! It’s really a unique design, and so fun to make. I think the most fun was the “free motion quilting” part of this project. I can’t even explain to you how fun that was, being in complete control of where the thread goes, making my own design. Wow…now I have done this method before in the past, which was a great experience, I just never really incorporated it into a project. Needless to say I will definitely be making more pillows like this to accent my living room! I just need to get my quilt done first, thankfully I’m almost half way done. You know, I think I’m also going to use the free motion quilting technique in my quilt. HA talk about some major practice taking place with this one. 😉

Making this pillow has really helped me get yet another new light on the whole “quilting” controversy I have battled with. Like I’ve said before, I really am learning to love to quilt. So much so, that I think the next project, well, after this quilt, and pillows for my living room, will be a quilt for my daughter. She is turning into such a big girl, so I’m thinking her baby quilt I made for her is “out-dated” now lol. I will say, the most fun part of this one will be picking the fabric out for it. She always likes to comment on the fabrics I choose, giving her opinion of them. So it’ll be a joy to see which ones she likes and picks out for her quilt. Who knows, I’ll probably even l let her help me make it! I mean, she already sits on my lap when I sew sometimes now, so at least this way she can say that she not only watched me make it, but she helped me too!

Ok enough of me blabbing and bragging about my cute little three year old. Hope you have a fabulous day! Talk to you again soon!!

Making a Quilt for my bed!

Hello, hope your Wednesday is going good! So I’ve been on an interesting adventure, I’ve finally decided to make a quilt for my queen sized bed! I know I know, I’ve told you I really don’t enjoy quilting, but since I’ve done the “quilt-as-you-go” method on my placemats, which I will post pictures of the finished table set, I’ve had a whole new light on quilting. Granted, the quilt I wanted to make for my bed isn’t a “quilt-as-you-go” method, but I’m actually having fun! HA who knew that I would learn to love to quilt. I will probably never end up selling them, just making them for myself or for gifts. There are too many quilters out there to compete with, plus I need to brush up on my skills a bit!!! u like

Anyway, on the quilt I still need to add another border for it to fit my bed properly, then add the backing and batting. But I could wait to take a picture when  it was done lol. I’m so impatient at times, and anxious to share it with you!

Well, hope you like it so far, let me know what you think! Thanks for reading, and have an awesome “hump” day.

P.S. I just pinned my quilt to the top of my front doorway lol, I didn’t really know how else to take a good picture of it. So as always, please forgive my photography!
